October brings festival, food, fun

October is filled with celebrations at Maxwell-Gunter this fall. With several Halloween parties and fall festivals, everyone can find their perfect party. Attend one, or attend them all.

If you're looking to get dressed to impress for a scary good time, look no further than the clubs. The Pit at the Officers' Club is hosting a Halloween party for Member Appreciation Night Oct. 24, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., that includes complimentary appetizers for members, door prizes and a costume contest. The Falcon's Nest and Stripes Lounge host their Halloween parties Oct. 31, 8 p.m. to close. Costume judging begins at 10 p.m. at both locations. Call the Falcon's Nest at 416-4646 or Stripes Lounge at 953-6878 for more information.

Children can get into the Halloween spirit at the Children's Halloween Party at Maxwell Bowling Oct. 30, 4:30 to 6 p.m. The party includes treat bags, pizza, cookies and soda as well as a costume contest. Prizes for the costume contest is at 5:45 p.m. The cost is $8 per child and includes two games of bowling and shoes. Call 953-5049 for reservations.

The Gunner Youth Center's fall festival is Oct. 16, 6 p.m., in the Gunter Youth Center gym. Activities include carnival game booths, a haunted science lab, refreshments and token game prizes. Cost includes 25-cent game tickets to be used for the various game booths and science lab. A family-friendly spooky movie on the big outdoor screen begins at 7 p.m. Call 416-3436 for more information.

The Maxwell Youth Center's fall festival is Oct. 30, 6 to 8 p.m., and includes carnival games, face painting and prize drawings. Call 953-6292 for more information.
