AFAF campaign continues through May 4|

4/8/2011 - MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- The Air Force Assistance Fund makes contributing easy through www.afassistancefund.org.
People can now log onto the website, fill out the form online, print it and submit to their organization's point of contact.
"There are a lot of folks who want to donate," said. Capt. Ian Coleman, the 42nd Mission Support Group executive officer. "The fastest way is to use the website."
The money supports the Air Force Aid Society, the Air Force Enlisted Village, the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation and the LeMay Foundation.
With the online form, people will be able to pick to which program they donate, said Capt. Philip Meikle, the program manager for the base support and expeditionary planning tool. He is the point of contact for Gunter Annex.
"This is our chance to give back to the Air Force and retirees, thanking them for their service," he said.
"We need to ensure our own people are provided for and well taken care of in order to ensure we remain the most powerful Air Force in the world," said Master Sgt. Denise Blair, 42nd Air Base Wing Command Section superintendent. "Even a small donation will mean a lot to those in need."
The 2011 campaign continues through May 4, and Maxwell-Gunter aims to collect $80,100.
Both captains were involved in the latest Combined Federal Campaign drive and said the Maxwell-Gunter community is extremely generous.
"I'm sure we'll surpass (our goal) by a large margin," Captain Coleman said.
Captain Meikle encourages people to donate, saying the need is great to help those fallen on hard times. The agencies support those who served and those who cared for those who served.
"You hope you never need it, but you're glad it's there," Captain Coleman said.
