12/13/2013 - MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- -- With only 12 days before Christmas, the Maxwell community library managed to track down Santa Claus with the help of Air Force technology. They brought in St. Nick for a special visit to the boys and girls on base.

During his visit Tuesday, Mr. Claus participated in story time with the children, reading "Twas the Night Before Christmas" by Clement Clarke Moore.

"This is what I live for," Santa said. "There are no words that can describe how it makes me feel when I see the glow on these children's faces at the sight of me."

This is the second consecutive year that Santa has visited the community library while on route to deliver gifts to boys and girls of the world. The library's staff was exceptionally pleased with this year's visit.

"I could see that the kids really enjoyed Santa's visit. His celebrity amongst them is unmatched," said Shundalynn Hall, a library technician. "As each child left, there were visible signs of mixed emotions. I noticed they were happy that Santa had visited, yet sad that he was leaving."

After reading to the children, Santa gave each child an early Christmas present with the promise of more to come on Dec. 25.

Upon Santa's departure on his sleigh led by Rudolph, he said, "I really enjoyed these children. There is always something special about visiting children on a military installation. May they all have a merry Christmas. Ho, ho, ho!"
