Feds feed families

A Maxwell Air Force Base Airman donates to Feds Feed Families, a government initiative that accepts donations of food for families in need. Donations will be accepted at the Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex’s Commissaries until early August. Over the past three years, the national program has collected more than 8 million pounds of food and non-perishable items for needy Americans. Making Maxwell beautiful

Local contractors prepare to pave the Maxwell commissary parking lot (Tuesday June 19.) The eco-friendly concrete mixture is expected to last approximately 20 years and withstand the River Region’s hot temperatures and high humidity. The project is expected to be completed within three weeks and will cover approximately 250,000 square feet between the Base Exchange and the Maxwell Commissary. Crowds of Eagles

Retired U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Summer weight ABUs are here

Senior Airman Adam Dkhili, , Headquarters Air University A4/6, Logistics and Communications computer programmer searches for a new set of summer weight Airman Battle Uniforms at clothing sales. Maxwell AFB is one of 17 Air Force bases to receive the new, lighter uniforms early, while others will receive the new uniform in 2013. The new material, the 50-50 nylon-cotton blend used in the Army combat uniform, weighs 6½ ounces per square yard, compared with 7½ ounces for the older ABU. Since the Air Force is not forcing Airmen to replace their uniforms, a special clothing allowance will not be provided. Costs are expected to be approximately $80.00 for the blouse and pants.
