Officer Training School held a graduation parade for the Basic Officer Training Course, Class 12-04, April 10, reviewed by Lt. Gen. David Fadok, commander and president of the Air University. Basic Officer Training prepares and commissions second lieutenants to fulfill Air Force active-duty and Air Force Reserve requirements in partnership with the U.S. Air Force Academy and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. The training consists of 12 weeks of military instruction and leadership development for college graduates leading to a commission as a second lieutenant. BOT is designed to instill high standards of conduct and provide officer candidates with the essential military knowledge and skills needed for effective performance as Air Force leaders. Doolittle Raid proved pivotal 70 years ago
Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle accepts a medal from the skipper of the USS Hornet, Capt. Marc A. Mitscher. The medal, once given to a U.S. Navy officer by the Japanese, was wired to a 500-pound bomb for return to Japan 'with interest.' This week, 70 years after the bombing of Japan, the remaining Doolittle Raiders have gathered in Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, for what may be their last reunion. (Courtesy photo)
