Maxwell Air Force Base members welcome home 42d Security Forces Staff Sergeant Brett Olson and his military working dog Blek on Oct 13, 2010. SSgt Olson and Blek were both injured by an IED while on patrol in Afghanistan. SSgt Olson, who received the purple heart, will adopt Blek, who has been medically retired due to the injuries he sustained.

AETC commander visits
Gen. Stephen Lorenz departed from Maxwell Base Operations Sept. 27 after one of his final visits to Air University as AETC commander. Gen. Lorenz was at Air University to speak to a joint session of Air War College and Air Command and Staff College students.
On hand to salute Gen. Lorenz as he departed were enlisted and officer Airmen of every rank from Airman Basic to Lieutenant General. Included were (left to right) Chief Master Sgt.
