SNCOA honors Tuskegee Airman
While speaking at Gunter's Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy on April 1, Lt. Col. (ret.) Herbert Carter was surprised with the academy's honorary diploma by Lt. Gen. Allen G. Peck (left), commander of Air University. Colonel Carter was invited to the academy to tell of his experiences as a member of the famed Tuskegee Airmen of World War II. According to the academy's Chief Master Sgt. Michael Foster, Colonel Carter has spoken to 68 SNCOA classes and more than 20,000 students since 1997. Also shown is Chief Master Sgt. WASPs reflect on roles as aviation pioneers

Giving to a good cause
Lt. Gen. Allen G. Peck (right), commander of Air University, and Col. Kris D. Beasley, commander of the 42nd Air Base Wing, sign their pledge cards for the 2009 Air Force Assistance Fund campaign in the general's office March 9. According to project officer Capt. Benjamin Henley, a goal of $72,031 has been set for Maxwell-Gunter in the campaign ending April 5. The fund benefits organizations that help Air Force people with aid in an emergency, with educational needs, or to have a secure retirement home for Air Force widows or widowers. Sergeant Harris was one of 60 aircrew and maintenance members of Maxwell’s 908th Airlift Wing that deployed for three weeks to Europe, flying missions out of Ramstein, Germany. This New House
Capt. Andrew Spady (left), an Officer Training School flight commander, and Capt. Eric Tatum, an Air University Plans and Programs officer, spend their Monday removing a barrier from the two-story home built for the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” television series. More than 80 volunteers from Maxwell spent many hours off-duty in support of the construction of a home for a needy Montgomery family. According to Maj.
