Gathering of Eagles

Former WWII fighter pilot and prisoner of war, air show performer and test pilot Robert Hoover visits with Dr. Bruce Murphy, the Air University vice president of academic affairs, and Lt. Gen. David Fadok, commander and president of the Air University, June 6 at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. Hoover was one of 15 ‘Eagles’ at this year’s Gathering of Eagles, Air Command and Staff College’s capstone event that recognizes aviation greats and military members who have made great contributions in service of the nation. The former first lieutenant received an honorary doctorate from Air University in 2010 for his lifetime aerial achievements and is shown standing next to his portrait alongside other AU honorary degree recipients, such as former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and NASA Administrator Charles Bolden Jr. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class William Blankenship)
