Maxwell Air Force Base celebrates the 75th anniversary end of WWII during a two-day Air and Space Show and Open House. 

DATE: April 18-19, 2020, Admission is FREE! 

TIMES: Gates will open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
    - Opening ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m.
    - Flying acts perform at 11:00 a.m. 
    - The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will be the last aerial demonstration on both days.

Q: Do we need tickets?

     A: General admission is FREE and provides free parking, open seating and access to vendors for food, water and soft drinks/beer.

         -Boxed Seating tickets are available for $35 and provide an included soda/beer, Thunderbird viewing area, shaded seating, cash bar and private bathroom access.

         -Runway Club tickets are available for $135 and provide VIP parking passes and seating, continental breakfast, lunch and snacks, water/soft drinks, a cash bar and private bathrooms.

Q: Will all the vendor booths be cash only or will customers be able to use cards?

     A: Cash and cards will be accepted.


Q: Will ATMs be available?

     A: Yes, but expect long lines.


Q: Will there be activities for children?

     A: There will be a Kid’s Zone that includes bouncys, rock wall, and other activities located outside.


Q: Will vendors be selling alcoholic beverage? Can people bring their own even if vendors are selling?

     A: There will be beer available for purchase (no other forms of liquor). Outside beverages are not allowed in; however, guests can bring empty water bottles to fill up at the water stations located through the gates.


Q: Does media have to be credentialed?

      A: Media do not have to be credentialed. However, credentialing is highly encouraged so our Public Affairs team can easily reach you in case they need to. Media credentialing will be accomplished in the passenger terminal side of the base operations building. Media should email maxwellmediarelations@us.af.mil for more information.


Q: Will handicap parking be available?

     A: Yes, handicap parking will be behind the base fitness center across the street from a show control entry point. Traffic control personnel will direct people to the parking lot, so please have handicap parking tags visible.


Q: What if I live on Maxwell? How do I avoid the long lines at the gate?

     A: Long lines at the gates and heavy traffic on base will be unavoidable, so housing residents and those with other business on Maxwell are asked to plan accordingly.


Q: Which gates will be open to air and space show traffic?

     A: The Maxwell Boulevard and Day Street gates will be open for air and space show guests.


Q: What time can I show up at the gate?

     A: Gates open at 8 a.m. on both days.


Q: Will vehicles be inspected as they go through the gate? 

     A: Vehicles entering the base are subject to search.  


Q: Will attendees be checked? 

     A: Yes, all guests and their hand-carried items will be searched by security forces at the security checkpoints at the entrances to the air and space show location.


Q: What can we expect at the security checkpoint?

     A: Search of all hand-carried items and body search using metal detectors, similar to civilian airport screenings.


Q: What are prohibited items? 

     A: See the “Leave It or Bring It” tab on this page for a list of prohibited items.


Q: What if I forgot to leave a prohibited item in my car as I’m being screened?

     A:Prohibited items will be confiscated and/or the guest will be turned away.


Q: Can I bring a stroller/wagon/wheelchair? 

     A: Yes, but it is subject to searching by security forces.


Q: Can I bring my own shade canopy?

     A: No, shade canopies are not allowed.


Q: Will smoking be allowed?

     A: Smoking will be allowed in designated areas.


Q: Can I bring a folding chair or blanket or umbrella?

     A: Yes, folding chairs and blanket are allowed, but large umbrellas will not be allowed.


Q: Can I bring a large camera bag with all my camera equipment?

     A: Yes, but it is subject to searching by security forces.


Q: Can I bring a diaper bag?

     A: Yes, but it is subject to searching by security forces.


Q: Can I bring a beverage/food cooler?

     A: No, outside food and beverages are not allowed.


Q: Can I bring alcoholic beverages?

     A: No, outside food and beverages are not allowed.
