Col. Barry A. Dickey is the vice commander of the 42nd Air Base Wing, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. As vice commander, he assists the wing commander with providing all base operating support, infrastructure and services support for 42,000 active-duty, Reserve, civilian and contractor personnel, students and families at Maxwell and Gunter Annex in direct support of Air University, the 908th Airlift Wing, Air Force Space Command and Air Force Materiel Command units, the Defense Information Systems Agency and more than 40 other mission partners.
Colonel Dickey graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in June 1993. He served for three years as an aircraft maintenance officer and earned his navigator wings in 1998. He has been an instructor navigator and flight examiner at the squadron and major command levels. His staff assignments include serving as Air Mobility Command's chief C-130 evaluator navigator, and special actions officer for the commander, Air Mobility Command, and chief of deliberate plans, U.S. Special Operations Command.
Colonel Dickey is a master navigator with over 2,500 hours in the C-130E/H1/H3, including over 300 combat hours and 31 combat airdrops.
