Events require entry efforts

5/20/2011 - MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Base personnel holding events at base facilities must remember guidelines set forth by base security forces. If six or more people need entry to the base, the person sponsoring the event will need to present the visitor center with an Entry Authority List.
"The sponsor will need to type up a list with the names in alphabetical order. Next to each person's name, they need to have the person's social (security number) and date of birth or their driver's license number and issuing state," said Tech. Sgt. Dee Long, who works with base security forces. "We have to do a background check on every person that comes on base."
If a person is younger than 15, the sponsor should note that next to the person's name.
Once the list is complete, the sponsor should hand-deliver the list to the visitor center at least 72 hours before the event.
"After running background checks, we'll put down on the list whether they're granted access or denied. We'll then let the sponsor know if any individuals have been denied," Sergeant Long said. "The night before the event, we'll deliver the list to the gate."
Guests will need to enter the Maxwell Boulevard gate at Maxwell. At Gunter, they will need to enter via the Congressman Dickinson Drive gate.
While registration in the new DBIDs system will still be required for base entry beginning in July, DBIDs will not impact event protocol. |
