The men and women of Air University and the 42nd Air Base Wing welcome the Air Education and Training Command inspection team.

We are glad to have the team here and we are eager to show them our programs and the tremendous work we've put into our diverse and unique operational missions. Collectively, we are mission-ready Airmen who operate a world-class installation and focus on producing and developing future leaders.

The diversity of our mission is evident through 44 mission partners. They include Air University and the 908th Airlift Wing; major command organizations, such as Air Force Materiel Command and Air Force Space Command; and Department of Defense organizations, like the Defense Information Systems Agency. These unique operations and partners make us a total force, joint and interagency installation.

The wing provides critical infrastructure, communications, deployment and quality-of-life services to a population of 26,000 active-duty, Reserve and Guard personnel, as well as U.S. and international students and family members here for Air War College, Air Command and Staff College and Squadron Officer School and students who attend the Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy, First Sergeant Academy and professional and continuing education and Officer Training School. Our 42nd Medical Group services a retiree population of about 15,000 veterans, and the installation interacts with local officials across a three-county, 12-city region, with a military economic impact of $1.2 billion annually.

We've partnered especially well with River Region mayors and chambers of commerce. As a result, Maxwell has been designated an Air Force prototype base for community partnership initiatives, and we continue to develop innovative ways to leverage resources across and between federal, state and local organizations.

As we prepare to work with the inspectors, just know that I am proud of everyone's dedicated efforts and commitment to making Maxwell "The Best Hometown in the Air Force."
Your accomplishments haven't gone unnoticed, and I look forward to a very positive inspection outcome. Rest assured I know that each of your teams is eager and excited to showcase your programs to the inspection team. Let's go, team Maxwell -- game on!
