The COVID-19 vaccine point of dispensing was taken down May 7, 2021, on Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, as operations were relocated from the Honor Guard Hangar to the 42nd Medical Group’s medical treatment facility.

Starting May 10, COVID-19 immunizations will be available by appointment only, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m, at the 42nd MDG immunizations clinic.

The 42nd MDG has administered more than 10,000 COVID-19 vaccines since the point of dispensing opened in January.

“This is a testament to the huge effort from our medics who carried on with Operation Warp Speed while also managing COVID testing and routine clinical ops,” said Lt. Col. Melissa Runge, 42nd Health Care Operations Squadron commander. “The success of this program wouldn’t have been possible without the help we received from across the wing, Air University and the installation providing volunteers. We greatly appreciate the partnership and teamwork.”

Consolidating operations to the 42nd MDG medical treatment facility will free up manpower and resources, allowing clinics to increase their capacity for appointments as they work to regain pre-pandemic availability.

COVID-19 vaccination appointments can be booked by calling the appointment line at (334) 953-3368 or scheduled online through the TRICARE Online Patient Portal at https://www.tricareonline.com/tol2/prelogin/desktopIndex.xhtml
