University Inn receives AETC Innkeeper award

The University Inn was selected by Air Education Training Center as the Innkeeper Award winner in the large base category for 2022.

"This recognition is prestigious to us. The staff truly knows how to show hospitality and sincerely cares about our guests," said Lt. Col. Jennifer Stewart, commander, 42nd Force Support Squadron. "They were thrilled to receive this recognition."

During 2022, the University Inn team had numerous accomplishments, including:

  • Supported the Secret Service for the Vice President of the United States' visit to Selma
  • Housed 264 Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps cadre and instructors for the program's first summer field training return to Maxwell since the pandemic
  • Supported the bed down of 160 aircrews from Naval Air Station Jacksonville as they evacuated during Hurricane Ian
  • Housed 45 impacted families with over 115 occupants when Winter Storm Elliott impacted the Maxwell-Gunter community over the holiday season

The University Inn provides service to more than 30,000 guests annually and supports in more than 1,100 rooms, spanning Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex.

The team consists of 180 employees who maintain over 21 buildings, accounts, and inventories, a total of 19,400 active assets, and 835 warehouse items annually, all while supporting Air University students with over 250,000 bed nights per year.

The team will go on to compete at the Air Force level for the Innkeeper award.
