SECAF Presents 2024 leadership awards to Air University faculty, staff and students

Edwin H. Oshiba, Performing the Duties of Under Secretary of the Air Force, Department of the Air Force, presented leadership awards to several Air University staff, faculty and students during a presentation ceremony May 6, 2025.

The Secretary of the Air Force 2024 Leadership Award recognizes those students, cadets, faculty and staff who exhibited exemplary leadership, character and ethical behavior. It’s the most prestigious award given by Air University on behalf of the secretary of the Air Force office.

The category and award recipients are:

Faculty/Staff Category

  • Field Grade Officer: Maj. Adam Carswell, as the Deputy Director of Academic Affairs at the Squadron Officer School
  • Company Grade Officer: Capt. Esah Bouziane, as the Academic Program Manager for Academic Affairs at the Squadron Officer School
  • Senior Noncommissioned Officer: Master Sgt. Jacob Stubblefield as the A3 Senior Enlisted Leader at the Airey NCO Academy, Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida
  • Noncommissioned Officer: Tech. Sgt. Taylor Koebel, Barnes Center as the Operations NCOIC at the Mathies NCO Academy, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi
  • Civilian Faculty: Dr. Evelyn Watkins-Bean, as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the Squadron Officer School

Student Category

  • Company Grade Officer: Capt. Christian A. Bergman as an Emergency Medicine Physician and Chief Resident at the Ohio State University Medicine Department
