MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. --
In keeping with the evolving mediums for information dissemination, the Leader Magazine has now become the Leader Magazine Online.
The new Web site features Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps, Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps cadets and Officer Training School candidates at www.leaderonline.af.mil
"Leader Magazine Online will bring better publicity to our detachments and cadets worldwide," said Capt. Brad Kimberly, the public affairs office's internal information chief. "We are better able to reach our target audience of 15-24 year olds by cutting out the print product and getting them information with the click of a mouse."
Going from a magazine to an online news source has many advantages, said Brig. Gen. Teresa Djuric, Jeanne N. Holm Center for Officer Accessions and Citizen Development commander.
"We're moving with our audience to bring the news in a format they prefer," she said. "Another advantage is that our readers will not have to wait a long time for new articles. Instead of waiting to see new content once every three months, articles will be posted on the new site as they are written. This makes the news featured at Leader Magazine Online more timely and relevant to our cadets, officer trainees, faculty and staff."
The Leader site features quick links to commissioning information, enlisted commissioning and AFROTC.com for ROTC cadets. In addition, JROTC cadets can find historical information on JROTC, a detachment locator and curriculum information on the Web site. OTS candidates are provided links to information on Basic Officer Training and Commissioned Officer Training, along with videos and information on preparation for OTS.
Leadership biographies, WINGS access, Air University and Maxwell Air Force Base links are also provided on the home page of the site.
"We want people to get the information they want, but also keep coming back to the Leader Web site," Captain Kimberly said. "We are being proactive in our approach by ensuring the cadets can see us in every tool they access."
