MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE Ala. -- The Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base community demonstrated its charitable spirit during the recently concluded Air Force Assistance Fund campaign, raising an impressive $25,093.95 to support veterans and service members in need.
The annual campaign, which concluded at the end of June, saw widespread participation from airmen, guardians, and base personnel, surpassing its fundraising goals through donations and various charitable initiatives.
Maj. James Slepika Jr., 2025 Air Force Assistance Fund Installation Project Officer, expressed profound gratitude for the community's overwhelming support.
"I am in awe of what we accomplished, and I think it’s a testament to what we can accomplish when we work together and believe in a common cause," said Slepika.
Special recognition was given to 42nd Air Base Wing Commander, Col. Shamekia Toliver and then-42nd Air Base Wing Command Chief, Caleb Vaden, for their unwavering support throughout the campaign. The success was also attributed to the dedicated 2025 AFAF campaign team, wing and unit points of contact, and key workers.
"All of you were the foot soldiers in this effort, and without you there is no campaign," said Slepika, acknowledging the extensive network of volunteers who contributed.
Beyond the core team, appreciation was extended to everyone who made a monetary contribution, displayed a poster, or simply helped spread awareness about the campaign. The funds raised will directly benefit various Air Force charities, providing aid to Airmen, Guardians, and their families through emergency assistance, educational support, and community programs.
