Alabama Governor visits Gunter CDC
Alabama Governor Robert Bentley speaks with Mary Smith, Gunter Child Development Center child and youth program assistant, Dec. 10. The governor visited the CDC to highlight Alabama’s First Class Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program. Bentley announced a $17.5 million federal grant to Alabama to support Alabama communities in providing high-quality preschool programs. A portion of those funds will support the CDCs at both Maxwell and Gunter. The funds will be used to help pay teachers, facilitate field trips and improve playground equipment.
