Seeing an 'old friend'
Rick Pringle, a retiree from Michigan, stands in front of the F-105 Thunderchief on static display at Maxwell Air Park, Jan. 30, 2015. Pringle served as a maintenance officer for the F-105 while stationed at Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, in the late 1960s. He traced the location of the F-105 tail number 61-0176 shown in the photo on the right to Maxwell and arranged for a stop to see one of his 'old friends' on his way to the Gulf Shores. Pringle was a second lieutenant when his photo was taken with the F-105 in 1969. He left the service a few years later.
