Weathington, age 87 at his passing on Jan. 1, 2018, was the security forces career field’s third chief master sergeant, ending his 27-year active duty career in 1979 as the senior enlisted advisor to Air Force Security Forces. He continued to serve as the director of Plans and Security Acquisitions, U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1990. The folded U.S. flag was presented to Weathington’s wife of 67 years, Christine.
