3/8/2013 - MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Maxwell Air Force Base recognizes Airmen who earn a perfect score of 100 on their annual physical fitness assessment. These Airmen have improved their score from their last physical training test in order to get into Maxwell's Club 100, or have had a score of 100 previously.

Q: Tell us about your background in fitness.

A: Ran in high school/college

Q: What was your previous fitness assessment score?

A: 100

Q: What did you do to prepare?

A: Run daily with 3 days of strength training a week

Q: What did that involve?

A: Push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, and running > 3 miles/day

Q: Did you do as well as you hoped?

A: Yes

Q: What was your nutrition like during this time?

A: Increased water and protein intake, decreased carbohydrates

Q: In your opinion, how would you describe a balanced diet?

A: Fruits, vegetables, meats, whole grains, small amounts of dairy, and even smaller amounts of sugars/refined grains

Q: What are the challenges of shift work when it comes to staying healthy?

A: Making time to work out, even when it isn't the most convenient for you.

Q: What other factors do you feel were important to your success?

A: Running comes naturally to me, and I enjoy it.

Q: Any last words of advice?

A: Set realistic goals and strive to reach them.
