AU instructor recognized as educator of the year
Since it was created in 1946, Air University played a critical role in military education thanks to its team of instructors, one of whom has recently distinguished himself from the rest after winning a major award. Lt. Col. David J. Ratliff, Ira C. Eaker Center for Professional Development instructor, was recently selected as the 2017 Air Force Financial Management and Comptroller Educator of the Year.

Air University wraps up third annual LREC symposium
Air University’s third annual Language, Regional Expertise and Culture Symposium was held Wednesday and Thursday, here. The event welcomed experts from around the world to talk about the importance of culture and language’s role in airpower. The theme for this year’s symposium was “Cultural Agility,” based on the Air Force Future Operating Concept for 2035, which focuses on operational agility.

Highlighting the importance of diversity in today’s Air Force
The Maxwell Equal Opportunity office welcomed members from the community to celebrate diversity Friday during the base’s fifth annual Cultural Awareness Day event in the Honor Guard Hangar here. Brig. Gen. Stacey T. Hawkins, Ogden Air Logistics Complex commander, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, was a guest speaker and shared his insight on why diversity is so important in today’s Air Force. He mentioned that his focus for the day was going to be about three themes: remembering, reflecting and renewing.

Air Force to institute new method to protect PII
Air Force officials announced Feb. 6, 2018, emails containing personally identifiable information, and similar numeric constructs, will be blocked from transmission unless the email is encrypted. For members unable to send or receive encrypted emails, members will be directed to utilize the AMRDEC SAFE application.

Holm Center receives General Welsh One Air Force Award
Air University Jeanne M. Holm Center for Officer Accessions and Citizen Development was awarded the General Mark A. Welsh III One Air Force Award during the 2017 Air Force Association’s Air, Space and Cyberspace Conference Sept. 18, 2017. Members from the Holm Center staff were in attendance at the AFA conference to receive the award on behalf of Brig. Gen. Billy Thompson, commander of Jeanne M. Holm Center for Officer Accessions and Citizen Development.
