Maj. Brent Luch is the Commander of the 42nd Security Forces Squadron, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. As the Defense Force commander, he is responsible for providing air base defense and security for 42,000 active duty, Reserve, civilian and contractor personnel as well as more than 2.2 billion dollars of assets located at Maxwell AFB and Gunter-Annex. The 42nd SFS is a proud component of the 42nd Mission Support Group, and the 42nd Air Base Wing providing direct support to Air University, and 45 mission partners including the 908th Airlift Wing, United States Space Force, and Air Force Materiel Command units.
Maj. Brent Luch was the chief, Security Forces Officer assigned to the Air Force Personnel Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. As the assignment officer, he coordinated and executed the placement and personnel actions for more than 700 Security Forces officers. In this role, Maj. Luch also led the planning and execution of assigning commanders to 113 Security Forces units, facilitating the selection of candidates and coordination with hiring authorities across the Air Force. Maj. Luch served as the subject matter expert to the Security Forces career field manager and major command functionals, advising them on career field manning and development.
Maj. Luch entered the Air Force in 2013 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Detachment 027, Northern Arizona University. He completed Security Forces officer training in April 2014 and was assigned to Malmstrom AFB where he served in multiple functions culminating as a nuclear convoy commander. Maj. Luch has experience as a two-time operations officer, including at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey where he led security operations for The North Atlantic Treaty Organization assets and served as a liaison to the host nation in support of joint security operations. In addition to these positions, he has served twice as an executive officer, most recently to a general officer.
