Lieutenant Colonel Deandra Price-Newby

Lt. Col. DeAndra Price-Newby is the Healthcare Operations Squadron Commander, 42nd Medical Group, 42nd Air Base Wing, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. She leads 139 officers, enlisted, civilian and contract personnel, encompassing primary care and all support functions to support the medical needs of 37,000 beneficiaries.  The squadron provides pharmacy, TRICARE Operations and patient administration, logistics, lab, radiology, systems, and resource management support for the 42nd MDG and promotes population and evidence-based healthcare for the 42nd ABW, Air University and 45 mission partners. 

Lt. Col. Price-Newby was a student at Air War College, Air University, Maxwell AFB. Previously, she served as the Commander of the 628th Healthcare Operations Squadron at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina. As the commander, Lt. Col. (Dr.) Price-Newby served 124 personnel across seven flights, ensuring the provision of comprehensive healthcare services in family health, pediatrics, pharmacy, diagnostics/therapeutics, logistics, resource management, and readiness for a 330-personnel outpatient care clinic with $14.7 million annual budget serving 66,000 beneficiaries. Additionally, her squadron directly supported operations of seven facilities worth $79 million, $5.7 million medical equipment, $6.2 million War Reserve Materiel, and $3.1 million contracts.

Lt. Col. Price-Newby entered active duty through the Health Professions Scholarship Program in May 2008. She completed the one-year Advanced General Dentistry Air Force Dental Residency Program at Langley AFB, Va. in 2009 and then proceeded to Dover AFB, Del. for her first duty assignment. She has served in a variety of positions over her career which include preventive dentistry officer, Medical Group executive officer, support flight commander, triage team chief, chief of dental services, and squadron commander. In addition to her clinical duties, Lt. Col. Price-Newby manned Dover’s Port Mortuary where she assisted with the identification of fallen military heroes.
