The advertising of these events does not constitute endorsement by the Federal Government or the U.S. Air Force or the information, products or services contained therein.  If military personnel want to volunteer during duty hours, they must receive permission from their supervisor prior to volunteering.  Additionally, military personnel cannot perform service in uniform unless approved in advance by Maxwell Air Force Base Wing Commander.  To receive approval from the Wing Commander, coordinate with the 42 ABW Judge Advocate (JA) and Public Affairs (PA) offices.

  1. Food Station: 2 persons, 7 a.m.-12 p.m., assist with food preparation and passing out food items

Purpose: Family Friendly, Morale Boosting Event

 

Volunteers Requested: 28

Duties/Tasks:

Set up (8 people): 0600-0800 Assist in Setting up the event, helping set up tables, canopies, petting zoo, spreading out eggs etc.

Person in Bunny Costume (1 Person), 0730-1200:  Energetic Person in a Bunny Suit who goes around and takes pictures with the children.

Bunny Handler (1 Person), 0730-1200: person that takes care of Bunny, makes sure they are getting breaks, and drinking plenty of water.

Person in Max the Mascot Costume (1 Person), 0730-1200: Energetic Person in a Bunny Suit who goes around and takes pictures with the children.

Max Handler (1 person), 0730-1200: person that takes care of MAX, makes sure they are getting breaks, and drinking plenty of water.

Bouncy Castle Watchers (6 People), 0730-1230:  Maintains the Safety of the Children at the Bouncy Park.

Line Facilitators (2 People) 0830-1230: Help facilitate the line for Pictures with the Bunny and Max

Floaters (4 people) 0830-1230: Help with whatever else is needed including emptying trash, filling coolers, etc.

Purpose of Event: PGA/ web.com golf tournament

 

Volunteers Requested: 30+

Duties:

Cart Scorers for Professional Golfers- the tee times will be in 11 minute intervals with the first tee time around 7:00 am – 12:30 pm – Scorers for this event drive golf carts with the professional groups. The caddies usually ride along

Marshals: on course at specific holes

Arrival Time(s): If the volunteers are arriving by bus/van be at course 7:00 am if the volunteers are driving separately they will be given a time from the chairman for their individual shift

Age Requirements: Be able to drive a golf cart and have a valid driver’s license- 16 yr old. Youngest volunteer is 13 yr old –committees Marshal, Driving Range, Leaderboards and Standard Bearer. Minors require parental consent to participate.

Special Skills: Walking Scorers will have a handheld device (size of cell phone) to record each hole score- 10 – 15 minute training will be given before going out on course.

Event: Hospice of Montgomery’s Kentucky Derby Annual Benefit

Purpose: To bring awareness and support to help provide medical care for the seriously ill, bereavement and grief counseling for families, as well as caregiver support.

  1. Silent Auction (3-4 volunteers), 3:00-5:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm: Monitoring silent auction items and table
  2. Floaters (3-4 volunteers), 3:00-5:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm: Walk around and answer general questions/assist guests
  3. Security  (3-4 volunteers), 3:00pm-5:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm: Walk around and monitor areas
  4. Cleanup (3-4 volunteers), Event ends at 6:30. Help loading unsold silent auction items and general cleanup

Event: Alabama Book Festival

Purpose: Introduce public to authors, publishers, and books; of this particular part of the event, to distribute chairs and tables.

Duties:

1. Set up (15 people) on Friday, April 12th afternoon, probably 2pm – 5pm: Assist setting up tables and chairs.

2. Take down (15 people) on Saturday, April 13th, 4pm to 6pm: Assist moving tables and chairs to nearby pickup locations

Arrival Time:

1. Friday, April 12th, arrive for set-up at 2pm.

2. Saturday, April 13th, arrive at 3:45. The place to show up is volunteer check-in; any guide or information booth will be able to point you to it.

The No. 1 objective to puppy-raising/ dog socializing is LOVE and exposure to lots of things. We want your dog exposed to lots of people, places, noises, and new sights.

You will need to provide your puppy with safe chew toys and teach him what he can and can’t chew on.

You will need to housebreak your puppy.

You will teach him to walk on a leash, sit, lie down, and stay. Depending on how much progress you make, you may be teaching more advanced commands before you know it!

Special Skills: Must love dogs! Willing to dedicate daily training time to a dog.

Puppy-raisers need a family that has a parent who stays home much of each day.

Socializers (partially trained dogs) need to be able to take a dog everywhere that they go.

2.  Group exercise instructors also maintain current First Aid and either the American Heart Association's Basic Life Support/Automated External Defibrillator (BLS/AED) or the Red Cross's Cardiopulmonary

Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) certification.

Purpose: To provide support and assistance in the event of a major disaster.

Translators: multiple languages needed, must be fluent in language to read, write and translate

Transportation: must have a valid state driver’s license, 21 years and older, unless active duty.

Arrival Times: During a disaster, request can come anytime day or night.  We ask that you try to be understanding in these times and be as accommodating as possible.
