The advertising of these events does not constitute endorsement by the Federal Government or the U.S. Air Force or the information, products or services contained therein.  If military personnel want to volunteer during duty hours, they must receive permission from their supervisor prior to volunteering.  Additionally, military personnel cannot perform service in uniform unless approved in advance by Maxwell Air Force Base Wing Commander.  To receive approval from the Wing Commander, coordinate with the 42 ABW Judge Advocate (JA) and Public Affairs (PA) offices.

Event: Fall Festival

Location: Maxwell Club Maxwell AFB

Purpose:  Family Friendly, Morale Boosting Event

 

Volunteers Requested: 40

Duties/Tasks:

  1. Set Up: 6 people, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.; Volunteers will help Set up tables, chairs, canopies, games, etc.

  2. Pumpkin Patch Helpers: 6 people, 2:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.; Assist customer with their pumpkins, and getting back into the hay ride. 

  3. Floaters: 2 people, 2:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.; Moving around the event, helping where needed, could be refilling coolers, helping with games or emptying trash

  4. Hay Ride Assists: 7 people, 2:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.; Help customers get in and out of the hay ride, maintain safety of the customers, road guards.

  5. Crowd Control for Walkaround Elmo: 2 people, 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.; Walk with Elmo and make sure that ELMO is not getting swarmed by kids.

  6. Haunted Hair Booths: 2 people, 2:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.; Assist in the Haunted Hair Booth, doing kids hair in a spooky way with the materials that are given.

  7. Monster Mash and Thriller Dance Helpers: 2 people, 3:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.; Learn the Monster Mash and Thriller Dance and help the families learn the dance, there will be an instructional video available.

  8. Movie Theater Set Up: 2 people, 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.; Help set up the outdoor movie area for the single airmen, inflatable, projector, and bag chairs .

  9. Photo Booth Decorator: 4 people, 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.; Decorate the 2 separate photo booths for the event, with the supplies that are provided.

  10. Max the Mascot and his Handler: 2 people, 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.; Dress up as MAX the Mascot and walkaround the event taking pictures with the family. The handler will walk with MAX the whole time making sure he takes breaks, and he doesn’t get crowded.

  11. Tear Down and Clean Up: 3 people, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.; helping clean up after the event

  1. Ooey Gooey Touch Table: 2 persons, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., attend to table while kids touch items in jars
  2. Spooky Carnival Games: 2 persons, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., assist with kids playing in various games (ex. Spin wheel, bowling, candy fishing)
  3. Food Station: 2 persons, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., assist with food prep and handing out hotdogs, chips, drinks to guests

    Age Requirements:  Minimum age is 12 with parent/chaperone volunteering with them.  Over age 18 does not require a chaperone

Purpose:  The Montgomery Bicycle Club promotes recreational and competitive cycling in the central Alabama area, and seeks to increase bicycle safety and awareness by advocating bicycle-friendly transportation policies in the area. We are not anti-motorist (most of us are motorists ourselves); we are pro-bicycle. The ride supports cycling safety, cycling education, cycling awareness and our robust May is Bike Month events.

 

Volunteers Requested: 20-50

Duties/Tasks:

We staff 8 rest stops, a start/finish location, we need road marshals, photographers, and many other tasks. The volunteer sign-up page has all of the various volunteer opportunities.

Age Requirements:  No age requirements or restrictions. We have parents that bring kids along to help. My 8 year old grandson has helped before and LOVED it

Special Skills:  None, except Basic Bicycle Mechanic Skills are helpful for bike mechanics

Purpose:  To raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorders

  • 8 Volunteers to stand along the course at each turn to insure runners turn in the right direction
  • 2 Volunteers to assist with handing out water to runners along the course
  • 2 Volunteers to take pictures of the event. They can use their own camera or cell phone camera and then email the pictures to the event coordinator afterwards
  • As many volunteers as we can get to help promote the event and encourage individuals or groups to register to participate in the 5-K run and/or the 1 mile fun walk

The No. 1 objective to puppy-raising/ dog socializing is LOVE and exposure to lots of things. We want your dog exposed to lots of people, places, noises, and new sights.

You will need to provide your puppy with safe chew toys and teach him what he can and can’t chew on.

You will need to housebreak your puppy.

You will teach him to walk on a leash, sit, lie down, and stay. Depending on how much progress you make, you may be teaching more advanced commands before you know it!

Special Skills: Must love dogs! Willing to dedicate daily training time to a dog.

Puppy-raisers need a family that has a parent who stays home much of each day.

Socializers (partially trained dogs) need to be able to take a dog everywhere that they go.

Aerobics instructor MUST have the following:

 

1. Group exercise instructors must have and maintain a primary instructor

2.  Group exercise instructors also maintain current First Aid and either

the American Heart Association's Basic Life Support/Automated External

Defibrillator (BLS/AED) or the Red Cross's Cardiopulmonary

Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) certification.

Purpose: To provide support and assistance in the event of a major disaster.

Duties/Tasks:

Translators: multiple languages needed, must be fluent in language to read, write and translate

Transportation: must have a valid state driver’s license, 21 years and older, unless active duty.

Arrival Times: During a disaster, request can come anytime day or night.  We ask that you try to be understanding in these times and be as accommodating as possible.

Age Requirements:

Translators; 18 and older

Transportation: 21 years and older, unless active duty
