The advertising of these events does not constitute endorsement by the Federal Government or the U.S. Air Force or the information, products or services contained therein.  If military personnel want to volunteer during duty hours, they must receive permission from their supervisor prior to volunteering.  Additionally, military personnel cannot perform service in uniform unless approved in advance by Maxwell Air Force Base Wing Commander.  To receive approval from the Wing Commander, coordinate with the 42 ABW Judge Advocate (JA) and Public Affairs (PA) offices.

Purpose:  To help bring awareness of suicide prevention

 

Volunteers Requested: 10

Duties/Tasks:

  1. Set Up (10 People), 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Assisting in table setup, tents, decorations,

 apparel, DJ equipment

  1. Registration (4 people), 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.  –Registering newcomers
  2. Take down (10 people), 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  – Taking down any and all that was setup

Event: Amazing Race

Location: Aviation Cadet Pool

Purpose:  The purpose of event is to promote fitness in a fun and family friendly atmosphere.   The 5k is a non-competitive run enjoyed by all ages.  Competitors compete in physical and mental challenges across FSS activities.

 

Volunteers Requested: 20

Duties/Tasks:

  1. Activity/Challenge Monitors (18 people) , 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Assist in monitoring a station to make sure competitors complete obstacle/challenge

  2. Food Servers (2 People) 5:30 p.m.: Serve food to the participants.

Purpose:  Family Friendly, Morale Boosting Event

 

Volunteers Requested: 39

Duties/Tasks:

  1. Set Up/Decorate: 6 people, 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.; Volunteers will help Set up and Decorate the pool area

  2. Ticket Collectors/Line Expediters: 2 people, 4:30 p.m.-8:15 p.m.; Making sure the line does not get out of hand, and that people are getting through the line quickly

  3. Floaters: 2 people, 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.; Moving around the event, helping where needed, could be refilling coolers, helping with games or heling taking tickets

  4. Food Servers: 18 people, 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.; Helping serve the food at the event (Special Considerations – Must wear a baseball cap, closed toe shoes, and a t shirt (no tank tops or anything without sleeves)

  5. Game workers: 8 people, 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.; helping expedite the various kid’s games we have at the Luau

  6. Tear Down and Clean Up: 3 people, 7:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m.; helping clean up after the event

Event: Receptionist Volunteers Needed

 

Day(s)/Date(s)/Time(s): Need volunteers who are available at least one day per week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.  Normal volunteer hours will be 11:45 to 13:15 unless the receptionist is on vacation, sick, or attending training.  In those instances, it will be all day:  08:00 to 17:00.

Purpose:  The Family Sunshine Center exists to end family violence and sexual assault and foster hope and healing.

Purpose:  To train (socialize and puppy-raise) service dogs for disabled Veterans and children

The No. 1 objective to puppy-raising/ dog socializing is LOVE and exposure to lots of things. We want your dog exposed to lots of people, places, noises, and new sights.

You will need to provide your puppy with safe chew toys and teach him what he can and can’t chew on.

You will need to housebreak your puppy.

You will teach him to walk on a leash, sit, lie down, and stay. Depending on how much progress you make, you may be teaching more advanced commands before you know it!

Special Skills: Must love dogs! Willing to dedicate daily training time to a dog.

Puppy-raisers need a family that has a parent who stays home much of each day.

Socializers (partially trained dogs) need to be able to take a dog everywhere that they go.

individuals to teach our lunch time aerobic classes (timeframe 11am -1pm).

Looking to teach Step, Spin, PUMP, Functional Fitness, etc.

Volunteers Requested: 3 Volunteer Aerobics Instructors

Special Skills:

Aerobics instructor MUST have the following:

 

1. Group exercise instructors must have and maintain a primary instructor

certification by an AF recognized organization. Instructors must obtain the

additional necessary specialized training/certifications for step and

kickboxing fitness classes

 

2.  Group exercise instructors also maintain current First Aid and either

the American Heart Association's Basic Life Support/Automated External

Defibrillator (BLS/AED) or the Red Cross's Cardiopulmonary

Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) certification.

Event: Disaster Evacuee Program

Purpose: To provide support and assistance in the event of a major disaster.

 

Volunteers requested: Unlimited

Duties/Tasks:

Translators: multiple languages needed, must be fluent in language to read, write and translate

Transportation: must have a valid state driver’s license, 21 years and older, unless active duty.

Arrival Times: During a disaster, request can come anytime day or night.  We ask that you try to be understanding in these times and be as accommodating as possible.

Age Requirements:

Translators; 18 and older

Transportation: 21 years and older, unless active duty

Special Skills: Translators: Must be fluent, Transportation: Valid State Driver’s License
